Bill Kennelly's Story of Hypertext
The Present
At the present time, HTML's limitations have been augmented by JavaScript and Dynamic HTML (DHTML), allowing more interactivity. Java applets can be embedded on the page, allowing programs to run in a web browser. Unfortunately, developments like these need new versions of browser software to support them, and in using these features in web pages, you could be excluding a large part of your potential audience due to incompatible browser software. Once again, it must be remembered that users will come to read your web pages because of the content, not because you have javascript menus which look really cool!
